Owners Notified Of Consequences Of Neglecting Properties
Owners of several properties within the boundaries of the City of Lawrenceburg are being notified of the consequences of extreme neglect.
Randy Jones with the Lawrenceburg Codes Department told members of the city council Thursday morning that notices are being issued to several property owners whose properties have fallen into a state of extreme disrepair.
On some of those properties are abandoned mobile homes that officials say, need to be condemned and removed.
Jones said that one hurdle in enforcing city codes that prohibit this type of neglect is that it is sometimes difficult to track down the accountable party.
In some cases property owners are living in nursing homes and in no state to oversee the needed upkeep.
A few have died, leaving the city with the task of tracking down the persons in charge of their affairs.
A lack of corrective action may force city officials to seek to have the properties condemned.
